As an archeologist, I can say that this is a very timely measure. As long as for 30 years of my practice, all archeological monuments and artifacts were dated abroad.

Kazakhstani scientists will now be able to date archeological monuments in a laboratory of geo-archeology in Almaty, head of the international laboratory “Geo-archeology” at the Al Farabi Kazakh National University Zhaken Taimagambetov told in his interview for otcom.kz.

“As an archeologist, I can say that this is a very timely measure. As long as for 30 years of my practice, all archeological monuments and artifacts were dated abroad. The laboratory at the Al Farabi Kazakh National University is financed by the Ministry of Education,” Z.Taimagambetov said.

“For example, fire-pits were found at primitive people’s sites excavated at the depth of 8 meters. Using the remains of coal from the fire-pit, we can define when this fire was made and as a result, date the monument,” Z.Taimagambetov explained.
