Despite its youth, Kazakhstan made a great deal on both the local and international level
Exactly 24 years ago on March 2 Kazakhstan joined the UN, became its 168th member. United Nations International Organization was established by the United States in the postwar period in order to preserve peace in the world, to establish and maintain friendly relations and security.
Today - International Day of United Nations, this is good occasion to take stock of the development of the country's relationship with the organization, analyze the achievements and outline plans for the future. Moreover, such a relationship is very relevant in the light of real world events as a positive character (this is the strengthening of the external relations between the countries, the development of the political and economic situation, the well-being of the countries) and negative (terrorism, extremism, violence, war, insurrection).
The UN mission also consists in preventing various types of conflicts, eliminating the deplorable consequences of force majeure, the protracted adverse events.
Some of the prominent figures in Kazakhstan and the United Nations are Akmaral Arystanbekova (the first Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations), Yerlan Idrisov (Minister of Foreign Affairs at present), Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev (the first in the history of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy UN Secretary General).
UN - not the only organization, which is one of the key partners of the republic in foreign policy, as it is the SCO, EurAsEC, CSTO, CIS, with which Kazakhstan is working more than one year.
All of these organizations are positioning their own mission and form different and yet the same ranking interests. Different in terms of the area of the increased interest with respect to geographical location, aspect fields - one focuses, for example, on the economy, the other - on security. But they are united by one thing - the improvement of the world, raising the standard of living, well-being and development on the scale of a single country, and the entire global world.
At the present moment, the UN and its departments in Kazakhstan made a lot since the social projects to external relations and the formation of a positive image of the country on the world stage.
The cooperation of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations was carried out in the framework of the Assistance Development (UNDAW). Among the priorities of the UN Framework Program for the period 2010-2015 you may note issues to reduce poverty and unemployment, maternal and child mortality, HIV / AIDS and tuberculosis, gender equality, sustainable development, improving the environment, improving governance, including the fight against corruption. The problem of effective use of water resources and combating desertification are the focus of joint cooperation, with particular emphasis on the regions of the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and the Aral Sea.
Nowadays, the UN Office with its 18 agencies are located in the former and the current capitals of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Almaty and Astana. They are UNDP (UN Development Program), UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), UNV (United Nations Volunteers) ILO (International Labor organization), UNESCO (United Nations educational, Scientific and cultural organization), WHO (World health organization), WB (World Bank), the IMF (International Monetary Fund), UN / AIDS (Joint United Nations Program on HIV / AIDS), DPI (Representation Department of public information), OCHA (UN Office for the coordination of humanitarian Affairs), ESCAP (economic and social commission for Asia and the Pacific), the UNECE (United Nations economic commission), the ISDR (International strategy for Disaster Risks) and UN Women.
Such United Nations Offices as UNDP and UN Women are now actively working to prepare for the EXPO 2017, which will be held next year in the capital city of Astana, namely conduct handicraft fair, various contests and similar events.
The relationship of the state and the organization is not static, and develops not in small steps. For example, Kazakhstan put forward its candidacy for non-permanent UN Security Council member for the 2017-2018 years.
About the role of the UN Security Council, and the benefits from membership in the UN Security Council for Kazakhstan Idrisov Yerlan Abilfaizovich said in https://zonakz.net.
The Security Council of the United Nations is a permanent body of the UN, which, in accordance with Article 24 of the UN Charter, and is primary responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security. Council decisions are binding on all UN member states. Membership in the UN Security Council is an acknowledgment of the international prestige of the country and its role in addressing global security challenges.
Election of Kazakhstan non-permanent member of the UN Security Council will attract the world's attention to the problems of our region and will serve as the promotion of national interests, strengthen the position of Kazakhstan in solving regional and international problems.
