Unique documents are presented at the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of "Alash" in Ust-Kamenogorsk

Large-scale book-documentary exhibition "Alash Movement - 100 years" is presented in the East Kazakhstan Regional Library named after A.S. Pushkin in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Writers, journalists, representatives of government agencies, schools, colleges, historians, students, employees of libraries and archives of the city came to the opening of the exhibition.

Unique archival documents are photocopies of trials materials, interrogation, denunciation, arrest warrants and judgments. Unknown photographer captured "Alash" leaders’ faces. Scientific monographs and articles of renowned scientists contain unexpected historical discoveries and unknown facts about life and work of leaders and activists of "Alash". Their names and bright images made history, remained in people's memory as symbols of love for country and nation, the unbridled desire for freedom and independence.

Documents show the complex and thorny path of "Alash" - a panoramic view of 1917-1938 events in interpreting of the venerable historians of our time helps to imagine the situation of the Kazakhs in the end of XIX - early XX centuries.

According to organizers, the main purpose of the exhibition is to introduce the members of the library and youth with creation of "Alash", activities of its members, who fought for independence and equality of Kazakhstan in other states community.

As Tussipkhan Tussipbekov, director of the State Archive of EKR, noted at the presentation of the documentary exhibition, a huge work was done to study "Alash" movement by librarians of Regional Library.

"Here are the Kazakh elite, which created at the time the autonomous republic. Their experience, education, knowledge allowed them to create a Kazakh autonomy. These books and documents submitted names of Alikhan Bukeikhanov, Akhmet Baitursynov, Zhussipbek Aimautov. Young people, knowing the history, the biography of each member of "Alash" movement, will more respect their history", - stressed the head of the regional archive. He expressed gratitude to the library staff members who prepared this unique exhibition.

Librarian Assel Omarova told that to highlight a particularly valuable material from the entire exposure is not possible, since all the documents deserve special attention. "First of all, these are the collections of documents that were kept secret for a long time, and now began to be published. Many books were banned. We have the opportunity to see them and study. It also presents the research of historians, who on the basis of their last examined documents reveal the magnitude and importance of "Alash" movement, - Omarova explained.

The guests expressed their gratitude to the organizers for their attention and respect for the historical past. Great personality, representing "Alash" movement, sacrificed themselves in the name of the sacred ideas and goals. They were a real intellectual elite and color of nation.

"At this exhibition, I learned a lot about the biography of my grandfather Raiymzhan Marsekov. Here is his book. I believe that everyone should know their history, their roots", - says Adilkhan Melissov, 9 class pupil of Nazarbayev Intellectual School.

Activities of talented intellectuals and their names are forever inscribed in golden letters in the national history of Kazakhstan.

"Alash" movement is an epochal phenomenon, born in the early XXth century in the period of the national liberation struggle of the Kazakh people. "Alash" ideas laid the fundamentals of national statehood and revived in the new historical reality, when in 1991, Kazakhstan declared its independence.
